North Wind

Title: North Wind
Author: Radiant Gloom
Fandom: Pokemon
Pairing: NorthernLightsshipping (Suicune/Espeon), one-sided NightLightshipping (Umbreon/Espeon)
Rating: G
Author's Note: This pairing was mentioned on the Pokemon/Pokemon thread on Sppf at one point, so I was inspired to think of a scenario and connection for it. Another thing was that this was for the fanfiction contest on Mystic Wish, and since the theme was "slash", I made both female, because I always saw Suicune as being feminine-looking back in the GSC days, and the Espeon in my game is female.

-----

Espeon's senses pricked as she felt the air currents in the night sky at route 40, near Olivine City. The light outside has been dim as the lighthouse's beacon, Amphy, grew ill as the days went by. Closing her eyes, Espeon attempted to read the future as the night went by. The currents became stronger as she focused on it's path. The wind was blowing in the northern direction, meaning only one thing: Suicune was coming. Espeon felt the cold sea wind blow by as the legendary beast's presence was near. Soon enough, Suicune was sitting right next to Espeon. This was not the first time they've seen each other, as both began to reminisce...

She was just an Eevee back then, when Espeon first met Suicune. It started when she ran away from her trainer in Ecruteak City. Such a rebellious little creature, she wandered into the Burned Tower, and while peering at the bottom floor from the top, she fell down and landed right in the middle of where Suicune, Raikou, and Entei were dwelling. The trio's first instinct was to attack the intruder, but Suicune stopped them, later returning Eevee to her trainer. She left her outside of the Ecruteak Pokemon Center, where her trainer was, nearly crying because he thought he lost his Eevee for good. Eevee became more grateful to her trainer, and evolved into a stunning Espeon weeks later.

Ever since then, both Pokemon became acquainted and had not-so-coincidental meetings in private whenever they could, usually at least once a month. Despite Espeon's connection to the sun, they always met a night, as regular trainers were asleep at the time and would not attempt to capture Suicune. Espeon's natural ability to predict the air currents, as seen earlier, made it even easier for them to meet. She always knew that if the north wind is blowing, Suicune would be there.

As the small tides came in, they splashed over Espeon's paws, scaring her for a second. Being a water-type, Suicune was amused, and pulled Espeon by the tail over to wade in the water near her. Espeon first felt a chill while standing in the water, but got used to it as Suicune was beside her. Both splashed each other and frolicked around the shore, later to curl up in the sand and look up at the stars. It was almost the end of midnight, but not quite, as the stars were still up, a little. In the sky, Espeon saw formations of other legendary Pokemon; One a Lugia, the other a Ho-oh, Entei, Raikou, and...

Espeon turned to look at Suicune. Her cyan pelt with white diamond patterns, the aquamarine crest, and purple aurora cape... Suicune was and even more stunning Pokemon than Espeon was, no doubt. Even humans followed after her to earn her respect, and yet she's here with a mere trainer's Pokemon. It wouldn't be a surprise that if someone found out an ordinary, tamed Pokemon ran off sometimes to see a wild beast like her, they would be distressed. Espeon felt lucky, as if she was worthy of being near her. Espeon hoped Suicune felt the same way towards her.

Meanwhile, as Espeon's trainer was staying at a nearby Pokemon Center to sleep, his Umbreon woke up, noticing that his psychic counterpart is gone from his side. Umbreon was a more recent addition to his trainer's team, but ever since he was caught, he was always possessive over Espeon, especially since their trainer planned on breeding both together someday. After quietly leaving the building to seek out the missing Pokemon, Umbreon followed the scent of his potential-partner, leading him near the sea. From where he was, Umbreon saw Espeon from afar, curled up in a purple, aurora-like cape (the only thing that could be seen from that angle). Umbreon silently stalked the creature as an attempt to figure out what it was.

Suicune felt the presence of Umbreon, and stood up, alarmed at the thought of being caught. Turning around for a split-second, Suicune saw Umbreon glaring at her, trying to lock eyes. Umbreon hissed at the mysterious beast, ready to attack. Suicune quickly turned to nod her head at Espeon as a farewell, and ran off towards the sea. As Suicune escaped by practically riding on the waves to Cianwood, Umbreon called Espeon away from the sea, as the sun was beginning to rise. Their current meeting may have been abrupt, but Espeon knew they would meet again. And next time, they won't be interrupted by a certain moonlit Pokemon.
